Carbon Footprint

On the path to reduce our carbon footprint

In 2021, we achieved a certificate that acknowledges our work to offset our carbon footprint by planting trees in the East Midlands, helping to combat climate change and sustain our environment for future generations.

Carbon Footprint Ltd offer programmes that actively reduce carbon emissions at the source, to protect all of our futures.

The organisation consists of a dedicated team of environmental scientists, climate change engineers and climate scientists focused on reducing carbon emissions.

To achieve Carbon Net Zero, we need to adapt a carbon management process in the following order:

  1. Measure - Assess our organisation’s footprint
  2. Carbon Offset - Compensate for the damage already done.
  3. Reduce Emissions In-House - Reduce our footprint to decrease the amount of offsetting needed and our ongoing emissions.

Office based organisations generally have a carbon footprint between 2 and 5 tonnes per employee. High energy businesses such as manufacturing and those with very high travel/transport usage (e.g. logistics, waste management, will have a much higher footprint at around 10 - 30 tonnes per employee.

The last 18 months have not been an ordinary year for most businesses, with travel restricted, exhibitions and conferences postponed and with all of our employees working from home, our carbon footprint per employee is much lower than a typical year.

Our total carbon footprint for the financial period 01/04/2020 to 31/03/2021 was 5.5 tonnes of CO2 which equates to 0.5 tonnes of CO2 per employee. To offset this and to become Carbon Neutral, we have supported verified carbon reduction projects by planting trees in the East Midlands.

Moving forward, our plan for 2021/22 will be to gain the Carbon Footprint Standard to fully enhance our commitment to combating climate change.
