Duty To Manage Asbestos For The Housing Sector

DUTY TO MANAGE ASBESTOS FOR THE HOUSING SECTOR

Introduction

The information set out below is for existing Members who are approved for the Additional Course - Duty to Manage Asbestos to deliver bespoke course content, while using the existing Duty to Manage Asbestos Syllabus (MS005).

Additional elements that would need to be covered in order to issue the certificate titled “Duty to Manage Asbestos for the Housing Sector” are set out below.

Members are required to discuss and carry out a Training Needs Analysis (“TNA”) with the client to establish the exact course content required by the delegates to ensure all aspects are covered and the delegates receive the correct training.

Occupational Relevance

Any persons in the housing sector who requires an overview of the duty to manage and legislative requirements. This would normally include, but is not limited to duty holder’s assistants, appointed persons assistants, building owners, landlords, sublessors, managing agents etc. and any person assisting duty holders in the compliance with CAR 2012 Regulation 4, as well as other statutory legislation that is specific to housing providers such as The Housing Act 2004 & the Homes (Fitness for Human Habitation) Act 2018.

Duration

As per the Duty to Manage Syllabus (MS005):

DM HS1) Initial training with NO previous UKATA asbestos awareness training undertaken plus an additional 30 minutes minimum;

DM HS2) Initial training with previous UKATA certificated asbestos awareness training (within 6 months) plus an additional 30 minutes minimum;

DM HS3) Refresher training as deemed necessary.
