UKATA, a leading authority on asbestos training, are supporting a new international conference this spring, with the aim to raise standards in asbestos training and legislation across the world.
Taking place in London at the ILEC Conference Centre, 17th June 2022, Asbestonomy aims to tackle the global issue of asbestos. It will bring together key players in the asbestos industry on an international scale.
The event will include updates on how the European Parliament works on protecting workers from asbestos, asbestos management practices, regulations around the world, and analysis of gaps between countries and opening to worldwide cohesion.
Speakers include Yvonne Waterman, founder and president of the European Asbestos Forum foundation, and Dr Mavis Nye, mesothelioma survivor, campaigner and author who continues to raise awareness on the risks associated to asbestos exposure following her mesothelioma diagnosis in 2009.
Craig Evans, UKATA Chief Operating Officer said:
“Asbestos remains a global issue, we still have a long way to go to tackle this. In the UK alone, there are over 1.5 million buildings that may contain asbestos. It is vital that we continue to raise awareness around the dangers of asbestos and educate those who are most at risk from exposure.
We look forward to exhibiting and meeting international associates at this inaugural event”
Representatives of UKATA will use the opportunity of exhibiting at Asbestonomy 2022, to network with leaders in the global asbestos industry, raise asbestos awareness and provide information and guidance on asbestos training and legislation within the UK.
