Leading association UKATA is delighted to announce its official sponsorship of Liam Bradley, Mike Goodchild & Colleagues of Bauder Ltd as they embark on a charity walk for Mesothelioma UK.
Liam Bradley was just 30 years old when he was diagnosed with pleural mesothelioma in February 2017. Despite his diagnosis, Liam is currently able to continue to work and lead a full and hectic life as a dad of three young girls.
Mesothelioma is a type of cancer that develops in the lining that covers the outer surface of some of the body's organs. It's usually linked to asbestos exposure.
Liam works for Bauder Ltd, a leading international manufacturer of building construction materials. Liz Darlison MBE, Chief Executive of Mesothelioma UK recently visited one of Bauder Ltd’s team meetings and gave a presentation on the dangers of asbestos, she provided insight into mesothelioma and the charity and then Liam shared his story. The Bauder Ltd team pledged there and then to complete a challenge with Liam to raise awareness and funds for Mesothelioma UK.
Mesothelioma UK is a national asbestos-related cancer charity. They exist to support people with mesothelioma to live better and live longer and to prevent mesothelioma happening to future generations.
Liam and his team will embark on a journey from Ipswich to Nottingham to raise awareness and funds for Mesothelioma UK.
Speaking of the fundraiser, Liam said “Bauder Ltd’s head office is in Ipswich and Mike Goodchild (Bauder UK) is a committed Tractor Boys fan and likewise I am lifelong Forest fan, so myself and Mike along with others will be walking from Ipswich Town Football Club to Nottingham Forest Football Club on Monday 25th November and we hope to arrive in good time for the start of the match between our two teams on Saturday 30th November where we will be welcomed into the stadium.
We are doing this to raise awareness for the disease and to raise funds for the amazing charity that is Mesothelioma UK who rely solely on donations to fund nurses and to help patients and carers.”
On sponsoring the event, UKATA’s Events & Marketing Manager Victoria Castelluccio said “We are honoured to sponsor Liam and the Bauder Ltd team as they take on this challenge, their dedication to raising awareness of asbestos related disease is vital to support the charity and protect individuals from exposure”.
The campaign has already gained significant momentum, with over £6,000 as of this release. The target for this challenge is £10,000 if you can support this important cause, please head over to Liam’s fundraiser.
