UK Asbestos Training Association pledge their support to The Health & Safety Executive’s #DustBuster Campaign.
Chief Operating Officer, Craig Evans says “We are delighted to offer our support to the HSE campaign running throughout October, which will be looking for evidence of construction workers knowing the risk, planning their work and using the right controls.
“As a leading authority for asbestos training provision within the UK, it makes perfect sense to promote this campaign on behalf of HSE to encourage a safe and healthy workplace”.
HSE inspectors will be visiting construction sites across Great Britain to see if businesses have measures in place to protect their workers’ lungs from the likes of asbestos, silica and wood dust.
UKATA Members, who provide asbestos training throughout the United Kingdom, are invited to participate in the campaign by showing their support via social media platforms using the #DustBuster and #WorkRight hashtags on Twitter at @H_S_E, or on Facebook via @hsegovuk and @SaferSites.
Asbestos is responsible for more than 5,000 deaths in the UK each year. The UKATA website (www.ukata.org.uk) is a great hub of information on asbestos and provides information on local support groups for those who are effected by asbestos related diseases such as mesothelioma.
UKATA was established in 2008 and has gone from strength to strength in the last 10 years, now numbering more than 185 member organisations delivering asbestos training from all corners of the UK.
