In collaboration with the Health and Safety Executive (HSE), UKATA recently hosted an insightful free webinar on Understanding ADR Regulations 2025 – Key Changes for Asbestos Management and their impact on asbestos transport and management.
The webinar, held on 14 February 2025, featured Nina Day CEng MIMechE, Senior Policy Advisor at HSE. Nina has over two decades of experience in health and safety, specialising in road and workplace transport. A Chartered Mechanical Engineer and a member of the Institution of Mechanical Engineers, Nina has an extensive background in investigating fatal and serious workplace incidents across construction, manufacturing, and offshore industries. In her current role, Nina leads on policy development for vehicle load security and manual handling in road transport. She works closely with key stakeholders, including the Driver and Vehicle Standards Agency (DVSA), Department for Transport, National Highways, and police forces, to improve safety standards and enforcement practices. Her work also includes engaging with industry groups to address transport risks and developing practical guidance for businesses.
Nina provided an in-depth overview of the key regulatory changes, their practical implications for industry professionals, and guidance on compliance. The session concluded with a live Q&A, allowing delegates to put their questions directly to Nina.
On organising the webinar, UKATA’s Event & Marketing Coordinator, Kelly-Anne Smith said "UKATA, is committed to supporting industry professionals by delivering expert-led sessions like this. We know that regulatory changes can raise a lot of questions, so bringing HSE directly to our audience was a fantastic opportunity to provide clarity.”
Over 300 attendees registered for the session, feedback received included comments from Laverne Fawthrop of Erith Contractors Ltd, who felt the Webinar was ‘Very useful and appreciated Nina’s involvement/insight’ and Vince Bassi of Gasway who said this was a ‘interesting webinar’.
