Leading association UKATA in collaboration with Sam Lord, HM Principal Specialist Inspector of The Health & Safety Executive (HSE) is pleased to announce the overwhelming success of the recent “Asbestos Updates Webinar” held on 19th November 2024.
The webinar hosted by UKATA and featuring HSE’s Sam Lord provided critical updates on asbestos related matters. The session covered the latest insights from Asbestos Technical Working Group, advancements in Science and Research, recent Policy and Guidance changes, and updates on inspections and campaigns.
Sam Lord provides technical occupational hygiene support to frontline inspectors as well as engaging with internal and external stakeholders. Sam chairs the Asbestos Network Technical Working Group, which serves as a forum for HSE to collaborate with key stakeholders.
Almost 500 delegates registered for the webinar, including local authorities, training providers, trade associations, the education sector, contractors and international organisations, further enhancing UKATA’s global reach.
Key topics included HSE Asbestos Update: Key developments in policy research and compliance.
Sam Lord also reminded delegates of current campaigns from HSE including Asbestos Your Duty which aims to reach those responsible for maintenance and repair of non-domestic buildings built before the year 2000 to raise awareness of the legal duty to manage asbestos in buildings and Asbestos and You, highlighting the risk of asbestos to tradespeople.
