UKATA, a leading authority for asbestos training supports and celebrates National Apprenticeship Week 2022.
Marking the start of the week-long celebration which brings together businesses and apprentices across the country to shine a light on the positive impact that apprenticeships make to individuals, businesses, and the wider economy.
This year’s theme is ‘Build the Future’; reflecting on how apprenticeships can help individuals to develop the skills and knowledge required for a rewarding career, and for businesses to develop a talented workforce that is equipped with future-ready skills.
UKATA has a successful recruitment history of employing and retaining apprentices, with existing staff having secured employment with the association following completion of their apprenticeship programme.
Being an apprentice himself over 15 years ago, UKATA Chief Operating Officer, Craig Evans said:
“I was very fortunate to work for an organisation that really invested in my education and future career very early on. That’s why I passionately support apprenticeships at UKATA today. UKATA is one of several ‘Apprentice Ambassador’ companies in Chesterfield, who are committed to working together to promote apprenticeships in the town.
A high percentage of our workforce have completed an apprenticeship, gaining qualifications that are invaluable to the employees and the association. I look forward to bringing new apprentices to the team in the future and helping them develop new skills and provide them with invaluable on the job experience."
Speaking on her experience as an apprentice and mentor, Membership Manager, Sasha Brailsford said:
“I first started at UKATA in 2015 as an apprentice in marketing. After completing my Level 2 Business Administration NVQ, I was offered an opportunity to transfer to the membership department. I gained experience within the role and felt that I had found my forte. Following hard work and personal growth, I progressed to a membership team leader role and have since been promoted to my current position as membership manager, which brings with it the responsibility to develop my own team of apprentices.
Watching an apprentice grow and develop, not only in the workplace but as a person is rewarding and fulfilling. Each of my apprentices bring a range of skills and experience to the table which forms a strong membership team.”
Throughout the week, other UKATA staff members will be speaking about their personal experiences.
