Long-standing UKATA Auditor, Ab Woolass, is set to take part in his first ever official cycling time trials hill climbing competition in support of the The Mavis Nye Foundation.
On Monday 26 June at 7:30pm, 'The East Beast' Winster Wakes Hillclimb event is one of the events Ab is taking part in to support The Mavis Nye Foundation.
Forming part of the local Winster Wakes Festival, the Matlock CC Winster Hillclimb is coming up on the evening of Monday 26th June.
The climb itself is a short but tough route straight up East Bank with lots of vocal support from residents and visitors so even if you aren't riding please come and watch and support the riders up the climb.
Ab aims to raise funds for the Mavis Nye Foundation and raise asbestos awareness throughout his challenges.
Mavis Nye was diagnosed with mesothelioma in 2009 and set up her own charity in 2017 with the goal to:
- Provide relief of financial hardship by providing aid to those persons in the UK requiring assistance to access medical treatment, in particular experimental medical treatment
- Help the advancement of laboratory and clinical research in the UK for the treatment of mesothelioma and other asbestos related diseases for the public benefit and the dissemination of the useful results of that research.
- Assist in the treatment and case of persons suffering from mesothelioma in particular, but not exclusively, by awarding scholarships or grants tenable at any British university or institution of higher education for health professionals in financial need and endeavouring to work primarily in the field of mesothelioma nursing in the UK.
