Multi award winning trade association UKATA announces sponsorship of European Asbestos Forum Conference, taking place in Brussels on 12 & 13 December 2024.
The European Asbestos Forum Foundation strives to improve professional networks and promote the exchange of cutting-edge knowledge on all matters related to asbestos. The forum brings together insights from across borders and sectors, sharing the latest innovations, scientific advancements, social insights and data, best practices, and the newest campaigns. Stay informed and ahead of the curve with this must-attend event of the year!
While the EAF is mainly focused on professionals, asbestos victims (organisations) are warmly welcomed, too. It is up to the professionals of today to ensure that there will be no more future asbestos victims, as asbestos diseases are preventable. The foundation was founded in 2014 by Dr. Yvonne Waterman MFAAM, who serves as its president, and is proud to have a Board of Advisors made up of globally highly regarded asbestos specialists.
Approximately thirty speakers from every asbestos related field, from six continents, will bring the state of the art in science, insights, experience, innovations, policy and campaigns to the conference. There will also be simultaneous translations to various languages.
UKATA Director Adam Harding, will chair the event with UKATA Director Chris Bishop delivering a presentation on “The Beirut Catastrophe – Another 9/11?”. As a chartered chemist, chartered quality practitioner, and 'Fellow of the Royal Society for Public Health', Chris Bishop has worked with UKATA since its inception and represents the association at the HSE-led Asbestos Network meetings.
For over 20 years, Chris has been working within the asbestos industry. Over a decade ago, he started his own asbestos consultancy and training company, AT&C (Asbestos Training & Consultancy) Ltd. AT&C offers a comprehensive range of services, including asbestos awareness, non-licensable and licensable asbestos training, duty to manage courses, and asbestos surveyor training. In addition to training, the company provides clients with site support, asbestos management solutions, and consultancy services for remediation projects, including contaminated land management.
UKATA Director Professor Roger Willey, and Chief Executive Officer of ACS will address delegates at the conference on behalf of his company. Roger is a distinguished figure who has adeptly bridged the worlds of academia and business for over four decades. His career is marked by substantial health and safety experience gained through high-level training, research, and consultancy work for a diverse portfolio of national and international clients.
UKATA member Wayne Bagnall will deliver a session on “Legacy Asbestos in Concrete”. Wayne operates a specialist asbestos and demolition safety consultancy; Wayne Bagnall Consulting with a small team providing advice, training, and support to ensure safe and cost-effective projects.
In the 1970s, Wayne studied chemistry & biochemistry for five years, attaining a City & Guilds full technological certificate equivalent to degree level. He continues his education in management and safety, gaining membership with the Chartered Institute of Management (MCMI), a qualified demolition engineer with the Institute of Demolition Engineers (IDE), and a corporate membership with IOSH.
In 2000, Wayne was one of the first four people to be awarded a Master's Degree in Construction (Health & Safety) Management at John Moores University Liverpool.
UKATA’s senior management team will be present at the event to represent the association and network with global organisations to raise the profile and asbestos awareness further.
