In 2016, an alliance was formed between the Wales Brand IIRSM, South Wales Branch ISOH, South Wales Construction Safety Group, Cardiff & Southeast Wales Occupational Health & Safety Group and the South & West Wales Safety Group.
The strategic aim is to improve the health, safety and wellbeing of all employees and others in South Wales by organising low-cost quality conferences for members and the safety community.
Since it’s inception, the alliance has initiated partnerships with the HSE, Local Authorities, Fire Services, Welsh Assembly Government, and the Health Service in Wales.
The upcoming South Wales Safety Groups Alliance Conference and exhibition will be taking place on Wednesday 19 April at the Cardiff City Football Stadium with the theme of ‘ALWAYS THINK RISK!’.
The conference programme includes a keynote address from a senior member of the HSE presenting ‘HSE Strategy – Risk Based Priorities’. Followed by Followed by Andrew Protheroe, PCR Global Ltd, giving us an insight in helping to choose and implement the correct Risk Management System for their organisation. After the mid-morning break, Claire Fryer, Costain Group Plc, will discuss ‘How Behavioural Science can be applied to Identify and Manage Risk’. The impact of wider business risks on ‘Workplace Health and Safety Standards’ will be then discussed by Leigh Chamberlain, Thomas Carroll.
In afternoon, delegates will hear from Jimmy Quinn, past president of IOSH, giving his view on ‘Risk Management of Major Construction’ and Sian Clayton, Head of Field Operation, Wales and the Marches, HSE, on ‘Improving Mental Health and Wellbeing in the Workplace’.
